Andy Molnar

Andy Team Manager

Andy Team Manager

Andy Molnar is the head of Team Molnar Manx, and has built it up, along with Molnar Precision, to be the best classic team in the world. Starting out in a shed and his living room, Andy has raced everything, beginning racing on a Dominator twin, before moving on to racing sidecar outfits with huge success. After having to give up his love of sidecars for son Richard, Andy returned to racing solo’s, and began to build up his race team. Having got his business into a worldwide status, he was able to form “Team Molnar Manx”. Since then, both the business, the Team, and the name Andy Molnar has been become infamous with classic Manx Norton’s.

Andy himself races his standard specification 350 Manx running in both BHR and CRMC championships, with constant success. With Andy on top form and with a little more time to spend on his racing, the “Granddad” of the Manx Norton will be on the podium as much as possible that is for certain!
Steve Tomes
Steve Tomes has been racing for nearly 30 years, starting out on his Father’s Royal Enfeild and David Holmes Velocettes with the VMCC. 2011 saw Steve make his true return to classic racing, riding the “Stage 2” engine in the British Historic Grand Prix, winning all but three races that he completed.
For 2012, Steve will be running the ultra-short stroke 95bore 500 and Tickle 350 in most CRMC events. Having raced with Team Molnar Manx for several years now, Steve is a well-known name in classic racing. With the probability of a new 500 machine sometime this year, could Mr Tomes have a shot at the 500 championship?

Chris Firmin

Chris Firmin
A third year for Chris sees him inherit the ultra-short stroke Team Molnar Manx bikes, racing on both the 95 bore 500 and Tickle 350 in the CRMC and BHR. Chris is certainly no stranger to classic machines as he has ridden Honda K4’s. Chris began racing on a Honda CB500, where he was a regular race winner, before ridding the classic Honda K4 of Davis Motorsport with several successes, including the big claim, “I beat Lea Gorlay” a title not many will hold!
In 2010 Chris was given the chance to ride a standard 86bore 500 with Team Molnar Manx, and he jumped to the opportunity! Since then the young lad has been getting quicker and quicker with several podiums and race wins, saying that racing a Molnar Manx is a “Bucket list experience”. Could this season see Chris a championship winner? Only time will tell!
Richard Molnar
Richard Molnar

2012 will see the debut of young Molnar, something many people have been expecting, or dreading…. Richard, son of Andy, has been about bikes since day one, and has had a never ending passion to race classic bikes. At the age of 14, Richard got his first taste of track action, by parading a borrowed 250cc Ducati, before moving on to his dads standard 350. Building up pace with every ride, he was soon ready for racing.

A Christmas gift of a rolling chassis for another 250cc Ducati engine was all that was needed to light a spark and since then the bike has been built up and at the end of 2011 was ready at long last. This year Richard will race his “Molnar Ducati” at CRMC and BHR meetings, with all the confidence expected from a young lad, he hasn’t found out how much it hurts, yet!
